How To Receive Payments Online

When you are building your online business, one of first questions that might be giving you a hard time could be, "How in the world do I accept payments on my site?"
The most common way to do this is by means of a shopping cart program, this is a software that allows you to list products/services on your website and collect payments from your customers. There are several options on the market and they differ both in levels of complexity of use to price range. Your decision should consider 2 things:
1. What stage of your business are you at, right now? Do you even need a shopping cart or can another a cheaper solution solve your need? What type of product are you selling and what especial order requirement does the shopping program needs to consider?
2. What is your level of programming experience? This is very important because if you are not computer savvy a lot of the programs out there are going to confuse you, make you waste a lot of time and give countless hours of frustration and the additional cost of paying for a programmer to set it up for you.
If this is your case, I would look for shopping carts that have their own set up wizard and come with built-in templates that you can set up yourself and avoid all the hassle. They wont be as flexible and sometimes you wont be able to customize it like you want to, but I think this will be a fair trade-off. Also look for good customer support.
Also, your budget is something to have in mind. Some solutions out there are between $200 to $800 or even higher so it can drain your pocket specially if it doesn't help your business to grow. One option that I recommend my coaching students is PayPal, they are a nice simple alternative and very cost-effective, if you are on a budget and you want something that is easy to implement right way.
Also have in mind that in order for any shopping cart system to work properly and for you to be able to collect your earnings you will need to have a merchant account - this is the same as a normal ordinary account with the only difference that it allows you to receive debit or credit card payments. Once your bank process your application and you arrange the integration with the shopping system of your choice you are ready to sell online.
I know how daunting and frustrating it can be out there looking for information and trying to start online with so many options that you cant even begin to phantom where to start.
Finding the right niche for you, it's the key to success online.
